Young Adult & College Ministries

Meet Tasha

Tasha Morwell (she/they) has been working with teens and young adults for the last 14 years.  Her passion is working with college students and helping them expand their understanding of the world around them.  Tasha’s experience in coaching, teaching, and advocacy gives her the tools to bring the Gospel to young adults from all different backgrounds.

Here at First UMC, Tasha works as the publications manager (you can find her in the church office from 8am - 11am Monday - Thursday) and as the Director of Young Adult and College Ministries.  Tasha leads a Sunday School class called Real Talk, which you can find meeting in the Atrium from 9:30am - 10:30am Sunday mornings.  Then, at the 10:45am service on Sundays, you’ll find Tasha providing ASL interpretation at the front of the sanctuary!

Beyond FUMC, Tasha is the Director of the Wesley Foundation at SIUC.  For more information on that, click the link bleow!

Real Talk

Our Sunday School class, Real Talk, is currently reading through the book Love Wins by Rob Bell.  You can reach out to Tasha to get a copy of the book for free, or you can find it though your local library.  In this class, we encourage raw honesty and genuine questions.

We’re asking questions about heaven, hell, and what we can do to increase our senses of community and belonging in the time we have on this earth.

Come join us for deep questions, meaningful conversation, and a whole lotta love.

Young Adult Ministries

Whether you’re an elder millennial or a freshly minted 18-year-old, you’re welcome to join in our little family of faith here at FUMC.  Our young adult ministries are aimed at those of us who are still trying to figure out our faith and our place in the world.  We’re committed to an environment of belonging and welcome.  Always.
